Petrified wood comes from forests that have been buried under mud so heavy and so dense that air can’t get through and the mud compresses the wood turning it into a rock. For all intents and purposes, the resulting petrified wood is a big piece of rock. Though these are not the best materials for building exteriors, it does catch one’s attention when it’s used as decoration or external design materials for a gas station.
Well what would a petrified wood gas station look like? Except for the different exterior, there’s not much different from any gas station five decades ago. There’s always the problem of redesigning the place. If you already used petrified wood for the gas station, why else would you want to change it? The best part about having a petrified wood gas station is that it allows visitors an opportunity to step back in time with the old gasoline pumps and the rest of the building.
There may not be that many gas stations with petrified wood designs but the rare sight is really quaint and a great chance for a visit.
